Te gustaria ir al cine
A complete lesson to compliment Viva 2 resources module 4 p.78
Notes below the slides explain how I would exploit the slide, differentiate etc.
Ma maison idéale cover lesson or homework project
This worksheet is ideal for setting as a cover lesson or homework project. There are a range of tasks such as a photo task, reading comprehension and translation from French to English. The worksheet culminates in an extended project where students describe their ideal house using the conditional tense- support given.
Como te llamas?
An ideal first lesson for Y7/8 Spanish. It follows the Viva 1 textbook “Como te llamas?” but can be used as any introductory lesson whatever textbook you use.
Objective: to learn basic introductions in Spanish.
In the notes of every slide are more detailed instructions of how I would use the slide.
Tu es sportif? worksheet
A worksheet that links to studio 1 p.52 “Tu es sportif?”. Ideal to set for homework or a cover lesson. It is well staged and increases in difficulty so students of all abilities should be appropriately challenged.
Que hay en tu insti
This worksheet is ideal for homework or a cover lesson.
It is self-differentiated as it gradually gets more difficult.
It builds on prior knowledge of school facility vocabulary in Spanish.
Dans mon sac (2)
This is a lesson where students learn to say what is/isn’t in their bag. The reason the title is “Dans mon sac (2)” is that I usually teach this as a second build on lesson after already introducing the key vocabulary items in a first lesson. This will depend on your class though whether this is necessary.
Objectives are:
to learn/recap vocabulary of 10 items in a school bag/pencil case
to say there is/there isn’t to form full sentences
To understand the rule of plurals
Skills focus are speaking (choral repetition), translation into English and writing
GCSE photo card practice lesson
This lesson aims to build students' confidence tackling photo card tasks in both writing and speaking. It introduces them to the PALM structure- People, Action, Location and Mood. This way students aren't stuck with what to say about the photo. It also briefly recaps the present tense for -er verbs as I often find my students write "ils sont manger" or "il est regarder" when describing photos, when the present progressive does not exist in French.
Les pays francophones et l'Algerie worksheet
This worksheet is a mixture of cultural and reading comprehension tasks which explores Francophone countries and Algeria in more detail. Ideal for a cover lesson or homework task. Aimed at year 8/9 but can be easily adapted.
Ou habites-tu?
A complete GCSE lesson to practise describing where you live and the different prepositions for "in". The skill area practised is translating into target language with a great game kids love! I take no credit for creating the game- saw it elsewhere on TES- butadapted the idea for this topic. Feedback welcome.
French target language ticklist
This worksheet can be given to students to help encourage them to speak in French during the lesson. It includes a whole variety of sentences that when students say one they can tick the sheet. This can be made into a competition between who ticks the most phrases.
French Classroom Displays
These power point slides print out as the perfect classroom displays for French- including weather, months, seasons and days of the week.
Feedback welcome.
Que tiempo hace
This Spanish lesson accompanies Viva 1 module 2- Que haces cuando llueve? It is ideal for either a year 7 or 8 class. First students learn the key weather vocabulary, then a drawing/copying exercise of the vocabulary followed by translation and writing their own answers. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to write their own sentences about what activities they do depending on the weather.
Dans ma chambre- year 7 worksheet
This worksheet is ideal as a homework task to supplement in class learning or as a simple stand-alone cover lesson. The tasks get gradually more difficult so is self-differentiated.
Tu aimes ta ville? Work sheet
This worksheet is ideal for a homework to supplement learning in class or as a simple, straightforward cover worksheet. The tasks increase in difficulty.
La comida y la bebida
The aim of the lesson is to introduce vocabulary for food and drink, recap noun genders and work towards creating full sentences using como/bebo in a speaking activity. The skills focus of this lesson is speaking- please find attached an accompanying board game (snakes and ladders).
Qu'est-ce qu'il y a dans ton sac?
This lesson accompanies access studio p.10 textbook or any lesson about what’s in your bag/pencil case.
Objectives are:
learn 10 items of vocabulary that might be in a school bag/pencil case
say there is + object in a sentence
understand the rules of noun genders
Activities include: lots of choral repetition and speaking game ideas, vocab copying and naughts/crosses.
In the notes section of the powerpoint is more guidance on how I would maximise the use of each slide.
Instrucciones
This is an ideal lesson with a new Spanish class to teach classroom instructions and encourage maximum use of target language.
All accompanying sheets are also included.
In the notes for each slide are more detailed teaching points.
Using all three tenses simultaneously
This stand-alone lesson is a really useful lesson for any KS4 French class leading up to a 90 word writing task question. The subtopic of the lesson is healthy living but the powerpoint could be easily adapted to any topic in order to revise using all three tenses simultaneously in a piece of writing.
Dans la classe
This is a lesson used for year 7 (or 8) French to learn objects around the classroom. Mainly oral practice, some AfL and an accompanying worksheet for students to label the words on.
KS4 French cover worksheet
A simple independent cover worksheet for KS4 French that can be for any occasion. Ideal for last minute cover lessons! Practises a range of exam skills such as describing a photo, description into both English and French and also an authentic reading task. Readily differentiated by outcome.
